Mark, my husband, and I served the community at a local church. I personally heard stories of a young single mother with her two children who were burned out of their home currently living at a motel supplied by the local Red Cross; a fifteen year old girl representing her family because her elderly grandmother was unable to come for assistance. I watched another single mother try to pacify three young children so that they could receive probably their one and only Christmas gift. The expressions on the faces and the mutual trust of our Lord Jesus Christ for provision and love was thrilling.
There were several men around my age, early sixies, who were obviously humbled my their inability to provide for their families; but, not so humiliated that they did not understand the need for a savior and speak grateful admission of their belief in Jesus.
The absolute honor of praying with and for these individuals presently suffering in the physical sense was staggering. The Lord knows the truth in each of our hearts and can use even my effort to further His Kingdom. The satisfaction and fulfillment of praying the "sinner's prayer" with several of these individuals made my Christmas Season!
I Samuel 16:7b "For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."
